History

1990

In 1990, a working group on transport issues (entitled „Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verkehrs-Know-How Dresden-Hamburg“) was set up by the cities of Dresden and Hamburg as part of a cooperation agreement between Hamburg-Consult and the Dresden local transport authority. This working group was entrusted with conducting important traffic infrastructure projects during this period of economic restructuring and the modernisation of public transport systems.

1994

In 1994, VCDH VerkehrsConsult Dresden-Hamburg GmbH was established in Dresden as a joint subsidiary of HamburgConsult GmbH and Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG.

Over the next 10 years, VCDH developed into a consulting company that employed more than 30 staff and gained worldwide project experience.

2005

At the end of 2004 strategic considerations occasioned HamburgConsult’s withdrawal as a shareholder, and on 1st July 2005 the Berlin transport company Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG AöR) acquired a 25.1% holding in the company. At the same time, the company was reorganised and renamed VCDB VerkehrsConsult Dresden – Berlin GmbH and the Establishment of an office in Berlin.

2010

VCDB has its own office in Magdeburg.
