Project Description

The Chemnitz transport company CVAG had only part components of a Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) System which carried out mainly autonomous vehicle functions. In order to meet future requirements it is necessary to determine information at the current position and transfer this to the control centre in 'real time'. To achieve this the Chemnitz transport company's AVL must be thoroughly modernised and for the most part newly procured.
An important basis for such a system is - apart from the necessary equipment for the vehicles and the AVL System - an effective radio communication infrastructure for the communication between the mobile units and the control centre. The Chemnitz transport company is currently using their own analogue radio network mainly for spoken communication. To meet the future demands it will be necessary to replace the old system with a modern Digital Communication System.
