Project Description
As part of the light rail programme for 2020, the state capital Dresden and Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG (transport company in Dresden) are investigating the construction of different new tram lines. Both extensions of existing routes (e.g. extending from Bühlau to Weissig) as well as considering entirely new network elements (e.g. tram line along Nuremberg Straße) are elements of this concept.
The basic structural and economic feasibility of light rail routes has been demonstrated in various studies - the VCDB task is to determine the economic validity of the new lines. This is accompanied by extensive technological and conceptual traffic studies such as the calculation of transport demand and comparative studies on possible routes and working on various operations programmes.
VCDB's Scope of Services
- Calculation of the economic validity applying the method of standardised assessment in 2006
- Traffic modelling and traffic demand calculations with the help of the programmes VISUM and VISEVA and the standardised assessment methodology using the companies own VBA tools
- Comparative studies on possible routes, in connection with analyses of spatial structure and potential analysis
- Setting up of operations programmes
- Communication of the planning process to the project partners (City Council, transport operators, local political partners and funding providers)
- Drafting of an application for federal and state funding
