Project Description
The VCDB as part of a consortium received the order to carry out extensive studies on traffic in the City of Lviv. The project was carried out together with the PTV AG Dresden, the engineering firm DREBERIS and local partners. Investigations were financed by the KfW-Bank.
The project which involved integrating all modes of transport was comprised of the processing of multiple subtasks. One focus was to develop a traffic model with the support of which the traffic flow could be examined, and extensive calculations could be performed. Another focus was the preparation of a feasibility study for a tram route to the stadium which was given tremendous significance due to the planned European Football Championship in 2012. The project was complemented with strategic investigations into more sustainable traffic management, especially regarding the organisational forms of the public transport company in the city as well as its operations.
