Project Description
The Greek Ministry of Environment, Town Planning and Public Works commissioned the planning and operating company “Attiko Metro” to supervise the turn-key project for the building of two new metro lines and to operate them on completion. A German French Greek Consortium “Olympic Metro” was awarded the contract for the detailed planning, construction, supply and start of operations.
The system consists of 20km of tracks, 20 stops, 28 metro trains, workshop, storage yard, power plants and administration buildings.
Different sections were put into operation over time and the complete system has been running since 2001.
